"Green Leaders in Business" awards announced

Amongst the finalists for the “Green Leaders in Business” awards were two service suppliers to the corporate sustainability sector showing an increasing “industry” growing up to help business make sustainability work.
Both Futerra, a communications agency that works exclusively on corporate responsibility and sustainability briefs and WSP Environment and Energy, a consultancy advising on carbon and waste made the top 12 of the Barclays Commercial Bank sponsored awards.

Announcing the winners, Marcus Agius, Group Chairman of Barclays plc said “ These are companies who share our philosophy of putting environmental sustainability at the heart of everyday operations and their achievements are proof that sustainable business practices and reducing environmental impacts can have genuine bottom line benefits”.

WSP employs some 1,100 specialist consultants in 65 offices around the world, helping clients blend environmental concerns with business success and create opportunities from sustainability.

Futerra work with small entrepreneurs to multinational corporations, all with an interest in communicating their commitment to ethical business practices and believe in making ethical messages fun and accessible.

Outright category winners were Moixa Energy, inventors of USBCELL batteries, Zytek Automotive, electric vehicle innovators and the smoothie company, Innocent drinks.
